In 2021, the municipal government announced that it would allow for a motocross track to be constructed on the eastern side of the Campo Santo. They claimed that no buildings had ever existed in this part of the site, and so no one had died in this area. A yearly motocross competition would bring more tourism to Yungay. A track was built at the far end of the site to accommodate the tournament.
