This week we had our first in-person meeting with the Media and Communications students at UPC who are investigating the legacies of the 1970 earthquake in Peru. We were excited to explore different themes and to start planning our fieldtrip to Áncash later in the year. The students have some great ideas for a documentary and some written reports. Watch this space!
I also had the opportunity to present some of our initial findings from the UK to students on the Trust and Social Intercultural Legitimacy course. We talked about trust after the Aberfan tragedy between the community, the National Coal Board, the British government and members of the media. The students had some really interesting insights on how institutional cultures can generate mistrust and what can be done to address this.
